Valentina Poggioni

Hi: I’m Valentina and at my University, in Perugia, in addition to being an Informatics teacher, I am above all a researcher. My job consists of studying and proposing Informatics innovations, both theoretical and practical. I like to do scientific dissemination, work with schools and create projects that allow the new generations to not only be consumers of digital innovations but creators of the same so as to be able to participate in an increasingly active way in the creation of the society of the future.

Ilenia Fronza

Hi: I am Ilenia, professor at the Free University of Bolzano. In addition to doing research, I try to bring as many people as possible closer to Informatics, while at the same time spreading a correct perception of it. I organize events and projects, which involve companies, schools, professionals, adults, and boys/girls. For this reason, one of the challenges I prefer is finding the best way to communicate Informatics concepts, depending on the interlocutor.

Veronica Rossano

Hi: I am Veronica, professor at the University of Bari. My work as a professor and researcher allows me to combine my two passions: teaching and Informatics per se. My research consists in identifying computer solutions that improve learning processes in any context, educational, professional and social. One of my challenges is to make people understand that Informatics is not the use of a computer but a real science.

Sabrina Mantaci

Hi: I am Sabrina, professor at the University of Palermo. I have a degree in Mathematics, but while I was working on my doctoral thesis in Informatics I fell in love with this science that combines the formalism of mathematics with applications in the digital world. I carry out research in the field of combinatorics and algorithms, with particular reference to the compression and comparison of texts. For some years I have been dedicated to teaching and disseminating Informatics, believing in the mission of making everyone aware of the fascinating secrets of this Science.

Antonella Carbonaro

Hi: I am Antonella, professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Bologna. Since my graduation thesis, way back in 1992, I have been working on Artificial Intelligence; today I see applications and services being created that at the time were only studied within universities… Well, what fascinates me about my job is having the opportunity to see what can happen in the future so many years in advance. Studying and working at university really has this flair.

Tullio Vardanega (coordinatore),
tullio.vardanega@unipd.it

Hi: I’m Tullio, professor at the University of Padua. Before that, for several years, I worked for the European Space Agency, NASA-de-noantri 😊, in Holland. After high school, I studied Informatics in Pisa. I chose it because, among my older friends, the one who seemed happiest with his life and work choices, had actually studied Informatics himself. My research revolves around software execution environments, what is between apps and the computer, and warrants the speed, accuracy, security, and reliability of program execution. When I arrived at the University of Padua, I helped create the first degree courses in Informatics, and in doing so I became increasingly passionate about the dissemination of “Informatics things”.

Enrico Nardelli

Hi, I am Enrico, professor of Informatics at University of Roma “Tor Vergata” and director of the CINI National Laboratory “Informatics and School”. I’ve always been fascinated by technology, which led me to graduate in Engineering and fall in love with Informatics, for the endless possibilities it offers to build ‘machines’ capable of creating any world we can imagine. I call them ‘cognitive machines’ because they enhance what our minds can do. Understanding how they work and how to use them is important for everyone, which is why I’m dedicating myself to the teaching of Informatics to all school students.
